What you need to know when in Lisbon
Upon arrival:
At the airport you can catch the AeroBus line 1 (between 7 am and 11 pm): for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation on Avenida de Berna, you should stop at CAMPO PEQUENO.
UNDERGROUND (Metro), from the airport, choose the red line and exit at SÃO SEBASTIÃO, which takes you behind the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. A Metro ticket costs 1,65 euros, but you may consider buying a one-day ticket (€ 6,60) if you arrive early and want to do some sightseeing. You can also buy the top up card [NAVEGANTE card] and top it up with the amount you want, this card can be used at buses, trams and funiculars in all Lisbon.
The TAXI fare from the airport to Avenida de Berna should cost around 25 euros. Sometimes, it is quicker to go to departures (right next to arrivals) to get a taxi. If you want to avoid (possible) long queues: just turn right as you come out into the main arrivals hall, go up the escalator, turn slightly left and go outside, you are outside departures, and there are often taxis available as they have just dropped passengers off. Once in the city, if you are using the public bus to travel around Lisbon, buy a pass (NAVEGANTE card) and top it up at any underground (METRO) station or selected points, as tickets purchased inside the bus are more expensive.
